Narrative description/ Abstract of Project Objectives

The purpose of the project is to support civil society’s efforts to engage with key government institutions, increase accountability and transparency, while improving inclusivity of advocacy and policy making, and leveraging the voice of marginalized and rural communities.

 

Concrete activities of the project include the establishment of UNISON sub-offices in Naryn and Osh in order to facilitate national energy sector advocacy in these regions and to increase electricity consumers’ awareness on legal rights and consumer responsibilities in rural areas.

Description of services provided by Unison

Unison’s contribution to this project comprised of the official opening of the regional offices, equipped with new furniture and office equipment

Outputs/Impact

Project outputs included:

• 43 consumer consultations in the Osh region, of which 33 cases were resolved and 10 cases were under consideration by energy supply authorities

• 175 consumer consultations in the Naryn region, 169 of them were completed, and 6 cases were at the stage of approval. 53% of them appealed to the regional office in the 1st quarter of 2013 (an increase of complaints in recent months).
