Narrative description/ Abstract of Project Objectives

This project comprised of exchange of experiences in enhancing the transparency in different sectors, particularly the energy sector.

An international FESTI presentation was held in the Kyrgyz Republic during which high level authorities were urged to adopt principles of good governance

Description of services provided by Unison

Unison conducted the plenary sessions on:

  • Global Initiatives in Transparency: Paradigms and Experiences
  • Key Issues in Energy Sector Transparency
  • Transparency of investments
  • Transparency of financial flow – commercial losses and experiences in utility reform, the Georgia Case
  • Consumer Issues: transparency in billing, service norms, grievance redressal procedures
  • Mini-Workshops
  • Using the regulatory process to understand costs
  • Implementing a Freedom of Information Act
  • Designing a Transparent Planning and Forecasting

Outputs/Impact

The outputs of the project included a FESTI Resolution as well as an analysis of possible implementation of successful experience in energy sector of the Kyrgyz Republic.
