Ecocertification of enterprises

Modern business should not only be profitable, but also environmentally responsible. Eco-certification confirms your enterprise's compliance with international and national environmental standards, reduces the negative impact on the environment and increases business efficiency.

Eco-certification is a certificate of recognition of products and services that have a lower impact on the environment than similar products and services. The mechanism contributes to additional demand for eco-hotels, eco-cafes, etc., that is, the impact of the business sector on the environment will be mitigated.
The initial stage of the introduction of eco-certification was carried out within the framework of the PERETO project together with UNISON Group. The main goal is to popularize the use of green technologies in construction, in the provision of services and in the use of food products. A regulation "On eco-certification in the HORECA sector" was developed.
A similar quality assessment is used in many European countries, Egypt, Japan, etc.
In Kyrgyzstan, there are only 4 categories: platinum, gold, silver and bronze. Tourist sites are assessed on a point system, the more points, the higher the category. The maximum possible number of points is 93 points.

The main criteria for eco-certification:

  • Environmental management
  • Water conservation and wastewater management
  • Waste management
  • Energy conservation and implementation (RES)
  • Eco-friendly management of material resources
  • Eco-transportation and eco-mobility
  • Eco-approaches in organizing product supplies
  • Eco-friendly practices in adjacent areas (if applicable)
  • Social responsibility
  • Eco-approaches in organizing product supplies.

In total, PERETO certified consultants on energy and resource efficiency conducted eco-audits in 88 hotels, cafes and restaurants throughout Kyrgyzstan. The enterprises that successfully passed the audit were awarded eco-certificates and quality marks in the categories of “Bronze” (49 tourism enterprises), “Silver” (37 enterprises), “Gold” (18 enterprises) and “Platinum” (2 enterprises). Certificates of compliance with the environmental standard were included in the unified register of certified objects of the Green Alliance of Kyrgyzstan. Also, entrepreneurs can independently undergo a preliminary self-assessment of the company's state of eco-certification at the link.
